Poor In Spirit

Yesterday I had the Honor of getting together with life long friends. Some of us hadn't met for 4 years. There was much catching up to do. One question that kept recurring was we needed to end our time together with a happy story.Ah, the happy story. Why did each end in tears? And then one friend mentioned an unusual prayer request for some unknown , distant God ordained prayer request that was answered. And I was smitten. And I was captivated. And something stirred deep in the pit of my heart, and I knew God would answer my prayers.
This morning I dusted off my cell phone ( yes I did) I have the Bible at the touch of my fingers. At a moments notice, ready for me...and I let it get dusty.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. .Matthew 5:3
Poor in Spirit..that's me.

Poor in spirit means that you feel you have no moral riches and are in need. You feel you need 'spiritual' life. 'Poor' (πτωχός) used in this verse means 'reduced to being a beggar'.
This makes sense that Jesus would make this the first attitude of a Christian because it is by being poor in spirit or 'reduced to being a beggar' that we become rich in Him.
I was running dry. But that's the beauty of the gospel. God is just waiting for me. When I can't, He can. When I hang my head in disbelief, He believes. When my heart is too heavy, He carry's me.
He makes the impossible, possible.
So today my friend, be encouraged. He still moves mountains, He still answers prayers.
And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek ,and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For EVERYONE who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the ONE who knocks it will be opened. Luke 11:9-10.

Remember This

O God our help in ages past
our hope for years to come
our shelter from the stormy blast
and our eternal home
Under the Shadow of thy throne
the saints have dealt secure
sufficient in thine arm alone
and our defence is sure

Before the hills in order stood
or earth received her frame
from everlasting thou art God
to endless years the same
A thousand ages in thy sight
are like an evening gone
short as the watch that ends the night
before the rising sun
 Time like an ever-rolling stream
bears all its sons away
they fly forgotten as a dream
dies at the opening day

Our God our help in ages past
our hope for years to come
be thou our guard while troubles last
and our eternal home.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.
a time to be born and a time to die
a time to plant and a time to uproot
a time to kill and a time to heal
a time to tear down and a time to build
a time to weep and a time to laugh
a time to mourn and a time to dance
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them
a time to embrace and a time to refrain
a time to search and a time to give up
a time to keep and a time to throw away
a time to tear and a time to mend
a time to be silent and a time to speak
a time to love and a time to hate
a time for war and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

 fellowship after the service

Remembrance Day Service. November 11, 2013. Monday the reason for this holiday. Maybe I just joined this service because my daughter was singing, maybe it was something more. When I was a child this was a mandatory event. Every November 11- we took time out of our Day to remember. We don't just remember those that gave there lives for our freedom, we remember those peace makers around the world, those soldiers that give their lives for others around the world. They leave there friends, families comforts of home to give there lives for a greater cause, a sacrifice of there lives. For what? For peace. It is not an issue of believing in killing or not, it is an issue of granting peace to this world. Peace that is hard to come by. Peace that I should never take for granted. Peace that they are and were called to give. We not only Honor our soldiers, we Honor the Police Force, RCMP , Red Cross and others that give to help others. How often I complain of giving my time to help others. How often do I believe in a cause enough to die for? How often am I just silent and just let the world pass me by. I am ashamed to admit my knees have not been worn out to pray for peace , protection, the injustice that is happening around the world. Just for a moment my heart was softened , my eyes filled with tears and I remembered. Thank you to all who served in the war, for those of you serving in war, for peace keepers around the world. For fire fighters, police officers, emergency crews, for Judges, lawyers, politicians, doctors that work at keeping our world safe. May I never forget, may my prayers never cease, may my heart never grow cold.

Yipee Oma's Back

Do these pictures just entice you to get up and boogie? Dance with abandonment? Did your face light up ,and could you hear the giggles of two sweet little girls? I just got back from a trip to Paraguay. A whirlwind of a journey and my face lit up and inside I danced a step or two. My conservative roots didn't allow me to dance on the outside. But inside I danced, I sang ,I boogied . Why ? Because God gave me a song to sing. A moment to reflect, a desire to love.
Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:8
A Love that never fails. God loves you. Personally. Powerfully. Passionately. Others have promised and failed. But God has promised and succeeded. He loves you with an unfailing love. And His love-if you let it-can fill and leave you with a love worth giving. Max Lucado
Just like two little gals who are crazy about their Oma, God calls us to be crazy about Him.
